Perspectives from the Statehouse: 2019 Budget Priorities

A forum with State Senator Matt Dolan (R-Chagrin Falls) and State Representative Sarah LaTourette (R-Chesterland)

Join two of Northeast Ohio’s most influential state legislators in a discussion about the state biennial budget process, the priorities of the 133rd General Assembly, and expected changes that could impact the bioscience industry.

State Senator Matt Dolan is currently serving his first term in the Ohio Senate, representing a large portion of Cuyahoga County. In the Ohio Senate, he serves on the Senate Finance Committee and its subcommittee on High Education; the Transportation, Commerce, and Workforce Committee; the Energy and Natural Resources Committee; the Insurance and Financial Institutions Committee, and; as the Vice Chair of the Judiciary Committee. Senator Dolan also served three terms in the Ohio House of Representatives, and during that time he served as Chairman of the Finance and Appropriations Committee. Senator Dolan is a graduate of Gilmour Academy, Boston College and Case Western Reserve School of Law.

State Representative Sarah LaTourette is currently serving her third term in the Ohio House of Representatives, where she is a member of House Majority Leadership. Representative LaTourette represents the 76th Ohio House District, which includes most of Geauga and northern Portage counties. In the House, she serves on the Finance Committee and its Subcommittee on Health and Human Services; the Health Committee; the Rules and Reference Committee; and the Community and Family Advancement Committee. Representative LaTourette is co-chair for the Commission on Infant Mortality and the Chair of Ohio Children’s Trust Fund. Additionally, Representative LaTourette is a member of both the Ohio Home Visiting Consortium and Ohio Advisory Council for Aging. Born and raised in Northeast Ohio, Representative LaTourette is a 2006 graduate of Miami University.
