Initiatives
As a catalyst for the region’s biomedical cluster, BioEnterprise is proud to be a partner in a number of transformative community projects, including:
- Translational Research Institutes: The research and clinical institutions, supported by significant State of Ohio funding, namely the $1.6 Billion Third Frontier Program, have created a number of distinctive, translational research and commercialization institutes.
- National Center for Regenerative Medicine: Over 100 investigators focused on non-embryronic cell therapies
- BioInnovation Institute in Akron: An $80 million initiative to become the leading center for biomaterials in medicine, capitalizing on extensive regional capabilities in advanced materials.
- Global Cardiovascular Innovation Center: The Global Cardiovascular Innovation Center is a $250 million product commercialization consortium with a mission to be an international leader in developing, acquiring, incubating, and commercializing cardiovascular technology
- Foreign Company Recruitment: With an initial focus on Israel, BioEnterprise works with numerous partners, such as Bridge Investment Fund, Team NEO, the Beachwood Chamber of Commerce, the City of Akron, and the State of Ohio. Our joint mission is to recruit Israeli biomedical companies to locate their U.S. operations in Northeast Ohio. The effort has successfully established numerous new company operations in the region. BioEnterprise is exploring ways to expand this initiative to other countries.
- Cleveland Medical Mart & Convention Center: A convention center and trade show facility focused on the biomedical industry. Starting in 2011, the facility expects to host over 100 medical conventions and meetings each year.
- Biomedical-Related Real Estate Development: BioEnterprise is a partner with many others in developing visions and execution plans for the Cleveland Health & Technology Corridor (Cleveland State through University Circle) and the Akron Biomedical District. The districts include numerous incubator buildings, health care research and clinical institutions, and related services.
- Workforce Development Programs: Regional institutions of higher learning have developed new training and degree programs to support the development of the biomedical industry. The links below
In addition, BioEnterprise is active at the federal, state, and regional levels as an advocate for supporting the growth of the biomedical, biotechnology, and health care IT/services entrepreneurial communities.
