Construction of Medical Mart & Convention Center Underway
Construction of the Cleveland Medical Mart & Convention Center (Cleveland MMCC) began January 3, 2011 with a completion date set for Fall, 2013. Cleveland MMCC will consist of a 235,000 square foot medical mart in downtown Cleveland and an adjoining convention center with 230,000 square feet of Class A exhibit space.
Cleveland MMCC is a $465 million Cuyahoga County project bringing buyers and sellers together at the world’s first market facility designed specifically for the healthcare industry. The state-of-the-art facility integrates permanent showrooms with convention and conference facilities to uniquely meet the innovation, education and commercial needs of the medical marketplace. Medical Mart showrooms will feature the latest technology from the world’s premier healthcare and medical manufacturers while the convention center is designed to host continuing medical education programs, conferences and conventions.
When Cleveland MMCC opens in 2013, the content of the Medical Mart will reflect the technology drivers impacting current trends in healthcare access, cost reduction and improved outcomes. Showroom tenants represent a broad spectrum of the healthcare market including the medical device and device development, healthcare IT, healthcare design, medical education and media sectors as well as some of the industry’s most prestigious healthcare providers.
Among the charter tenants are global companies including Johnson Controls, Invacare, STERIS, Clariant, BlueStar, Hyland Software, and MCPc. The project is managed by MMPI, the leading owner and operator of showroom buildings and trade show facilities.
